Covers by
Roy Keeley
I collect modern USA covers from Scott 803 to now.
It is hard to find anybody like me. I am trying to get one of
every USA stamp on a cover showing postal use.
It is too cheap for dealers to handle. Is there any body out
there that is like me?
I gladly pay 25 cents to a dollar, but mainly I get...

The Savage of the Art has passed away by
Mette
I have just established a small blog-like web site, where I will post from
time to time the latest news about art in general, and philatelic art in
particular.
The first short article is about the recent passing of the Dutch painter
Karel Appel, who was a member of the COBRA-group, that included...

China Stamp by
linxlvr
Hi all.
I was recently handed a shoebox full of 'unknown' stamps from someone who
knew I was into collecting coins quite heavilly and collected stamps
somewhat. (Stamps was more an accumulation of stuff no dealer would want
to buy than it was a collection. LOL)
So looking through this there are...

Windpower Commemorative Stamps by
Sam
Hello there,
I'm currently taking my GCSE exams at school. For my graphic design
exam, we have been given a prep sheet to research materials relevant to
the exam. For this exam, we must research commemorative stamps
depicting windpower. I was wondering if anyone had scans of any stamps
that I...

SG numbers by
A.J Todd
I'm a real newbie and I can't understand why SG catalogue numbers
sometimes aren't consecutive, maybe because alternative colours were
issued later, numbers are left out and
sometimes don't start with 1
I'm sure there is an really obvious explanation but it ain't obvious to me....

A Sad Story about a Renown Sculpture by
Victor Manta
One of early works of the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi, The Wisdom
of the Earth (Cumintenia pamantului, 1907) is a reflection of Brancusi's
philosophy, that has its roots in a wisdom that is anterior to Christianity.
The sculpture shows a woman that is very concentrated on herself, her...

Best Way To Get Started with US Stamps? by
Jim Conklin
Hello folks:
I've decided to collect US stamps, particularly 19th century. I'm
buying a blank Scott National album so I need to fill up those spaces. I'd
prefer the best quality and my question is how to go about it economically.
Mint, NH would be the ideal but of course that's hard with older...

Ancient Mauritania. by
Rodney
Ahhh, Mauritania, land of the Fennecs :)
Mette, if you care to expand on your particular interest,
I may be able to offer a map to comply.
The earliest I have where Mauritania is shown in North Africa
(and south-east of Spain) is "Europe on the eve of the Barbarian
Invasions" c.395ad
After that,...

Danish Numeral cancels by
WebmasterGPFS
Hi,
I'm working on the various towns corresponding to the numeral cancels
used in Denmark in 1854-1864 (before the Slesvig-Holstein war). The
Number 15 refers to Faaborg. However, I have seen that there are 2 towns
with this name, with more or less the same size : one near Ribe, the
other one in...
