What is going on with the U.S. Mint Website? by
MKW
Is it just me or is everyone having trouble checking online order
status? And why, on the high relief gold, are they 'Holding" orders
for credit verification for 2 weeks or more. All they have to do is
run the charge to see that its valid.

PING: Billy by
Mr. Jaggers
I'm trying to make sense of the Maundy series.
I know that the Maundy 3 pence and the circulation threepence have different
designs starting with Victoria.
I suspect that 1, 2, and 4 pence starting with William IV were made
exclusively as Maundy coins.
But what about silver 1, 2, 3, and 4...

Bullion values of UK coins by
Tony Clayton[_2_]
I have added a page to my website on the Values of UK coins
which lists reasonably recent bullion values for gold
and silver coins.
Of course, many such coins have a value exceeding their bullion value, but
some, and I am thinking of worn sovereigns and pre-1920 silver in particular,
have listed...

I tried to post this before but I think the cyber gremlin shot it down.
I have a box filled with half dollars 1960 and 70 including the ones with 2
dates on them. (1776-1976)
Before I wrap them up and bring them to my bank are they worth more then 50
cents?
Also, My Dad passed away over...

The Lincoln dollar and commems in general by
mazorj
An interesting take on the new Lincoln dollar and commems in general. Note the TV hucksters' exorbitant mark-up on items like this.

Flamewars and Lawsuits on rec.collecting.coins by
Arizona Coin Collector
Hello
I was not aware that some people have filed lawsuits because
people posting on "rec.collecting.coins" were being
flamed. There has been more than one lawsuit on this
newsgroup. Base on what I have seen in this group, the
only winners are the lawyers who collected the legal
fees.
What I am...

NCS Repair and Slabbing by
Bruce Remick
Does NCS offer a service like ANACS where they will authenticate, grade,
and slab a coin that may otherwise have problems, but without doing anything
to it? Or do they pretty much just repair and/or conserve coins? This
auction below made be wonder why the owner didn't simply submit the coin...

PING: Some thoughts for Economist Olson [long] by
Mr. Jaggers
For quite some time now, you have been making dire predictions about the
future of the economy, not only that of the U.S., but that of the entire
world. I classify this as "problem finding."
Now I seek solutions to the problems, which I name "problem solving."
Perhaps you can be instrumental...

offered to trade 'real money' for them.
That's the third time a store customer has wanted to get some

eBay sellers making a killing on rolls of 2009 Lincoln cents by
Johnny Doe
They will only make, what, about a billion of each design?
Get your bids in, $25 boxes of 50 rolls bid up to $265 with 2 days
left!
Single rolls bid up to $25.01 currently.
How long before sanity shows its ugly face and secondary prices drop
to a reasonable rate?
